Africa-Press – Liberia. Aggrieved supporters of the ruling Unity Party have staged a protest over an alleged exclusion of them by Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris in Bong County.
George N. Flomo, who read the aggrieved partisans’ petition said since Bong County Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris was appointed Superintendent of Bong County, she has demonstrated a clear pattern of hostility toward the very people who worked tirelessly to bring this administration to power.
According to Flomo, they as the ‘Rescue Missionaries,” have been systematically rejected, humiliated and even denied access to meet with Superintendent Norris.
“Our efforts to engage with her and contribute to the development of our county have been met with contempt and disregard,” he added.
He said despite their patience and continued support, it has become increasingly clear that Madam Norr’s harbors a deep-seated bias against the people who made her position possible.
The aggrieved partisans alleged that Superintendent Norris rather than working to unite the country, has worked to undermine and discredit the Unity Party and its allies.
They revealed that this divisive approach has gone on for far too long, and the President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency President Joseph Nyumah Boakai must be made aware of her actions and take immediate action.
The specific grievances they have against Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Noiris were listed in a 12-count petition including BREACH OF TRUST: Madam Noris has betrayed the trust and confidence of the Unity Party youth and its allies by coralsteritly and rejecting, excluding, and abandoning those who fought for her position.
The Superintendent has preferred opposition figures over those who supported the “Rescue Mission. She consistently awards contracts and provides opportunities to individuals with no proven track record, while ignoring the contributions of loyal partisans, Madam Norms has misapplied our County Social Development Funds, including a failed beans farm project and an ineffective beauty pageant, which have yielded no tangible results. A flagrant disregard for transparency and accountability.
The demonstrators emphasized that Superintendent Norris has awarded contracts to companies without a history of past performance, violating Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) regulations, all while engaging in shady business relationships that suggest the receipt of kickbacks.
The Superintendent misrepresented the political activities of a pastor by falsely claiming that he supported the Unity Party during the 2023 elections, leading the President to reward him with a brand-new vehicle. This act is an insult to the prelates who stood firm with the Unity Party.
They, at the same time, accused Madam Norris of reportedly covering up the misappropriation of funds from a Chinese mining company’s social corporate responsibility contribution, which was diverted to a separate account under the direction of District #3 Representative Marvin Cole, in exchange for promises of future political favors.
The UP supporters said Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris has collaborated with opposition lawmakers, something which Madam Norris has actively worked to deny loyal supporters of the Unity Party and Its allies key positions in local leadership, including chief appointments.
Madam Norris has worked with opposition figures to weaken the Unity Party and its allies in Bong County, fostering division rather than unity.
The aggrieved Unity Party youth wing stressed that Madam Norris has shown a complete lack of appreciation for the sacrifices made by young Unity Party members and allied political parties during the 2023 elections. Her actions are an affront to those who brought this government to power.
Additionally, the disenchanted Unity Party Supporters further emphasized that Superintendent Norris has persistently refused to engage with or even meet with members of the “Rescue Mission” as a matter of courtesy, further distancing herself from those who supported her ascension to office.
Furthermore, the Unity Party Bong County Chapter youth on many occasions Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris has openly stated that she is not in office to promote the edereits of “Rescue Missional of the Unity Party and has constantly acted in a manner that disrespects those who worked tirelessly for her election.
They said Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris has been complicit in promoting the interests of individuals associated with criminal gangs that attacked and almost killed Unity Party partisans, further exacerbating divisions within the county.
Notwithstanding, the Unity Party’s aggrieved partisans noted that Superintendent Norris’s behavior represents a clear and deliberate disregard for the values and interests of the Unity Party and its allies.
“We, the Youth Wing of the Unity Party and its allied political parties (Liberty Party, MDR, and Rainbow Alsance), demand the immediate removal of Madam Loleyah Hawa Norris from her position as Superintendent of Bong County.
“Her actions are damaging to the Unity Party, the government, and the people of Bong County, and if we are to succeed, this issue must be addressed promptly,” they added. “We call upon the President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyumah Boakai, to take decisive action in relieving Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Norris of her post for her failure to honor the trust and commitment of the very individuals who helped to bring this government to power.”
Receiving the petition, the Unity Party Chair Lady and Regional Gender Coordinator, Viola Cooper Teamah, and the National Liaison for Chiefs and Elders Affairs, William B. S. Kollie accepted the aggrieved partisans’ 12-counts petition on behalf of the Unity Party Bong County Chapter Chairperson, Martha C.T. Morris.
Madam Teamah and Kollie urged the protesters to remain peaceful as their grievances will be addressed as soon as possible.
However, Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris, who was present at the demonstration ceremony on Monday, June 9, 2025, did not make a statement and she has yet to issue a public response up to press time.
