Africa-Press – Liberia. The Agricultural and Industrial Training Bureau (AITB) has announced that preparations are nearing completion for the issuance of Competence Licenses to both public and private Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across Liberia.
Since the appointment of a new management team in May 2024, AITB has seen a surge in interest from TVET administrators nationwide seeking to obtain the Competence License—a critical credential affirming an institution’s compliance with national TVET standards.
According to AITB, the long-anticipated licensing process will officially begin this year, following the completion of an ongoing compliance monitoring and gap analysis study.
“We are aware of the growing interest and the persistent efforts by TVET administrators to align with national standards,” the Bureau stated. “We want to assure our stakeholders that the issuance of the Competence License will commence this year.”
As part of the preparatory phase, AITB, in collaboration with its partners, is carrying out a series of activities including compliance monitoring, curriculum harmonization, and institutional capacity assessments. These efforts are designed to ensure that all institutions meet the required technical, administrative, and instructional benchmarks before licenses are granted.
TVET providers are strongly encouraged to stay engaged with AITB through its capacity-building initiatives, technical education sessions, and compliance evaluation programs—all of which aim to support institutions in meeting national quality assurance standards.
AITB reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the quality of technical and vocational education in Liberia and to fostering a skilled, competitive workforce through standardized, credible, and industry-relevant training.
