Africa-Press – Liberia. 8, the Netherlands Institute for Multi-party Democracy (NIMD) hosted its second Regional Youth Democracy Education Training in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.

The three-day event brought together 30 emerging leaders from Bomi, Gbarpolu, and Grand Cape Mount Counties to strengthen their leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement skills.

Participants represented both formal and informal sectors, including youth-led organizations, political party youth wings, community colleges, commercial unions, and grassroots groups.

Opening the training, NIMD Knowledge and Programme Advisor Floortje Klijn encouraged participants to focus on youth-centered issues. “This program is about the challenges that matter most to young people. Reflect on their relevance to your counties and use your influence wisely,” she said.

The training was built on priorities identified during a nationwide youth consultation, which highlighted key challenges such as teenage pregnancy, limited job opportunities, and the need for market-relevant education. Through interactive sessions, participants explored these issues and developed youth-led solutions.

Dudu Fahnbulleh, a small business owner from Grand Cape Mount, said the entrepreneurship session would help her grow her business and create local opportunities.

Beatrice Taylor from Bomi County added, “This training has inspired me to explore new ideas and take calculated risks.”

Participants also praised the digital skills component, noting its value in marketing, customer engagement, and accessing business information.

The Regional Youth Democracy Education initiative fosters inclusive dialogue, civic participation, and leadership development across diverse social and political backgrounds.

It bridges formal and informal sectors and provides a safe space for young leaders to collaborate and address community challenges.
