Africa-Press – Liberia. Black Man Warrior FC and Determine Girls FC were crowned champions of the 2024/25 Orange Cup after securing victories in their respective grand finals at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex over the weekend.
Black Man Warrior FC claimed their first-ever Orange Cup title after defeating LISCR FC 3-1 in a penalty shootout. The match had ended 1-1 after regulation and extra time.
Prince Mantor opened the scoring for the Warriors in the first half, while LISCR FC equalized through Emmanuel Flomo in the second half, forcing the game into extra time and penalties.
Despite having two goals disallowed during regulation, Black Man Warrior, coached by former LISCR boss Sam Chebli, held their nerve and converted three penalties to secure the win. The victory was seen as sweet revenge for the Warriors, who had suffered two defeats to LISCR in the recently concluded LFA First Division League, won by FC Fassell.
Speaking after the match, team captain Darius Payne credited Coach Chebli’s tactical insight and rigorous training, particularly on penalty kicks. “Defeating LISCR FC on penalties was not a surprise; we’ve been practicing it regularly, and it has paid off,” Payne said.
With the Orange Cup win, Black Man Warrior joins league champions FC Fassell as Liberia’s representatives in CAF club competitions.
In the women’s division, LFA Upper Women’s League Champions Determine Girls completed a domestic double with a commanding 3-0 victory over World Girls in the Orange Cup Grand Final.
Goals from Mabinty Camara, Catharine Jatta, and Jessica Quachie sealed the club’s third Orange Cup title, adding to their growing legacy in Liberian women’s football.
The “Soccer Missionaries” continue to dominate the national scene and will now shift focus to representing Liberia in the upcoming WAFU Zone A qualifiers.
