Africa-Press – Liberia. The United States of America (USA) has elected former US President Donald Trump as President of the USA during the Election of November 5, 2024, in the USA. The USA, considered to be the bastion of democracy, has just elected a felon to be President of the USA, not forgetting that Trump directed the attempted coup d’etat in the USA on January 6, 2021. Trump was never arrested and sent to Court as required by the Rule of Law. But South Africa, considered to be a developing country, worked through the Rule of Law to have the former President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, arrested and taken to Court. The Court ruled that former President Zuma must never run in any election. Former President Zuma obeyed the Rule of Law and has not run for any elected office.
Former USA President Donald Trump was never arrested. Trump was never subjected to the Rule of Law, even after he attempted a coup d’etat that he directed on January 6, 2021, in Washington, District of Columbia, USA, at the Capitol Building. Some people got killed in the shooting that took place at the Capitol during the attempted coup d’etat. The killers have not been subjected to the Rule of Law. The rule of outlaw prevails in the USA.
Yet former USA President Trump was allowed to run in the November 5, 2024, USA election, in which he was elected President of the USA. The former Vice President of the USA, Makala Harris, was not elected. The rule of outlaws prevails in the USA, while the Rule of Law prevails in South Africa, where, during the racist regime of apartheid, the USA government gave the South African government moral and financial support.
We witnessed an irony during Madiba Rolihlahla Mandela’s funeral when the US president said that the world needs three words for a world leader, and those words were Madiba Rolihlahla Mandela. What an irony! These words made by former US President William Clinton played no small role in leading to the defeat of Democrat Hillary Clinton at the hands of the Autocrat Donald Trump.
The only way for democracy to defeat autocracy is to transform the unfair prevailing electoral system into a fair, enduring electoral system. Only through this transformation can persons with good records get elected to bring in the system of Justice, the indispensable ingredient of Peace and Progress in the USA and any other country.
