MONROVIA — Reverend Emmanuel Nimely, Ex-president George Weah ‘s Religious Advisor, was early Monday morning June 3, 2024 transferred from the Zone Three Police Detachment in Duazon, Margibi County to the National Police headquarters in Monrovia to respond to allegation of duping more than 90 people.

Police authority informed FrontPageAfrica that Rev. Nimely, who is currently in Police custody, is undergoing intense investigation and there might be probable cause to charge him and forward the case to court.

The LNP authority declined to state how soon the investigation will be concluded, but stated that the suspect had already spent his first night behind bars.

According to the police, the Constitution grants 48 hrs for the suspect to be investigated, charged and sent to court for onward prosecution.

According to reports, some individuals who claim to be “victims” of the act allegedly committed by the “man of God” and pastor of The Forky Klon Church, Ex-president Weah’s Church, lured them to believing that he had contacts in Australia that could give them Visa to travel to that country.

It is reported that he received US$ 700, US$ 1,500, US$ 2, 000 and US$ 1,000 from each of his “victims” based on their situations and stories.

He, however, denied the allegation, claiming that he has all documentations to exonerate him.

He served as religious advisor under the regime of Ex-president Weah and his role was to foster peace and unity among Liberians.

Rev. Nimely, while serving as pastor and religious leader, hosted religious seminars and preached religious tolerance.

Like Pastor Nimely, in 2020, suspect Abu Kamara was incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison by the Monrovia City Court for duping over 15 people in similar manner.

He was sent to jail by Judge Jallah when he was forwarded to the court by the Liberia National Police for prosecution.

He was alleged to have duped 15 young people under the guise of job opportunities, travel opportunities, and scholarships.

The investigation also established that each of the victims did pay cash to defendant Kamara and his accomplices toward their employment, totaling USD$13,650.00.
