Africa-Press – Liberia. The grassroots advocacy group, Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND), has warned it will sustain a massive protest on December 17, 2025, and remain on the grounds of the Executive Mansion until President Joseph Boakai meets the demonstrators’ demands.
Speaking at the launch of STAND’s “Lead or Leave” campaign in Congo Town over the weekend, STAND national chairman Mulbah Morlu said the demonstration will be peaceful, law-abiding, and nonviolent, describing participants as patriots and nationalists committed to the people’s cause and the rule of law.

“December 17 will never be like July 17; hundreds of thousands will be out, and we will sustain the protest if the President does not meet our demands,” Mr. Morlu declared.

He said the protest is planned to take place directly in front of the Executive Mansion and that the location is non-negotiable.

“No police barricade will stop that, no barbed wire will detour the crowd, and no armored vehicle, tear gas canister, nor the presence of 10,000 police officers will stop us from assembling right before the Executive Mansion on December 17,” he warned. “That is where we will gather, that is where we will assemble. We caution President Boakai to be prepared; the premises of the Executive Mansion belong to the Liberian people.”

Mr. Morlu insisted the right to assemble and petition leaders is fundamental, especially when citizens perceive their safety and security to be under threat.

He described December 17 as “battle day,” suggesting authorities might deploy police trained in “violence and brutality,” and claimed the government is training more police in Rwanda. Mr. Morlu said STAND will not be intimidated.

“They are meeting us, but we have courage. We are defenseless, we are strategic, we are relentless, and on December 17, goodwill triumphs over evil,” he said, invoking a biblical metaphor of David defeating Goliath to underline his conviction that the demonstration will lead to the President’s political defeat.
