Captain Fofana’s arrest brings the total number to four Liberian Immigration officers (LIS) assigned in Nimba County who have been recently arrested in the county in possession of drugs.

The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) authorities in Nimba County have placed the street value of the Kush drugs in possession of Captain Ansu P. Fofana at LD$117,000 (Liberian Dollars One Hundred Seventeen Thousand).

“My officers have gone around the St. John River to raid when Immigration Officer Captain Ansu P. Fofana was arrested in possession of a huge Kush. My mission in Nimba County is to implement the mandate of President Joseph Boakai and my boss Abraham S. Kromah to make the country free of drugs; it’s based on such a mandate that I’m here to implement”, Nimba County LDEA Commander Abraham OKai Payne said.

At the same time, the Nimba County LDEA’s boss has announced the arrest of additional 50 alleged drug users along with three business owners in Ganta with huge quantities of dangerous drugs.

Those arrested are 39-year-old Norah Garteh in possession with 382kg of marijuana with the street value of LD$76,840.00, 44-year-old Lisa Dennis in possession of LD$69,840.00 worth of marijuana and 22-year-old Randell Bartuah with 9 boxes of Tramadol valued at LD$225,000.

The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Nimba County commander lamented that his detachment is faced with constraints due to the lack of vehicles to carry out effective operations in a bid to curtail the trade and usage of drugs across Nimba County.

Meanwhile, suspects Lisa Dennis and Norah Garteh told FrontPageAfrica that they are single mothers who are involved in the drug trade in order to enable them to provide care and support to their children.
