Africa-Press – Liberia. Mulbah K. Morlu, the Chairman of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), spoke to partisans at the party headquarters in Congo Town, saying that opposition political parties are not prepared to lead Liberia.Speaking on Thursday, Morlu said that despite opposition parties not being ready to lead Liberia, partisans of CDC should come out in their numbers to register and give President George Weah a first-round victory.
He added: “One million rallies were important, but if we can’t get registered, then we can’t give Weah a first-round victory.”
Morlu furthered: “The good thing about this election is we don’t have any opposition. The weak group of people calling themselves the opposition are fragmented, visionless, and leaderless, and we must take advantage of this situation.”
CDC Chairman Promises Partisans Full Inclusion in President Weah’s Second Term
The Chairman of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) also assured partisans that the second term of the George Weah-led administration will include every partisan.
“Partisans, executives, and auxiliary groups who were left out during the first term of President Weah’s government, the party will identify with you after the October 10 presidential and legislative elections,” Morlu said.
He added: “We want to assure you that as we all have registered to give President Weah a one-round victory, you can be assured that no soldier will be left behind.”
“The sacrifices that some of you have made for this party about 18 years ago will end following the pronouncement of President Weah as the winner.”
The CDC Chairman’s statement comes after partisans expressed regret that they were left out during the last five years of the CDC’s government.
Speaking to scores of partisans, Chairman Morlu acknowledged the concerns of some partisans, adding that such a situation would never happen again.
“The CDC is quite aware of the ongoing challenges that are confronting members of our party, but we want to assure you that these challenges may not occur when President Weah gets re-elected,” he said.
According to Morlu, during the 2017 election, the CDC campaign was on the mantra of change.
Morlu added: “When we assumed the presidency in the first phase, we introduced change. Now in the second phase, our focus is to turn that change into reality.”
Morlu further stated that the CDC is determined to make President Weah win in the first round. He listed the construction of roads, tuition-free policies, loans, and children’s playgrounds, among others, as some of the reasons that will make President Weah win on the first ballot.
“You can’t sustain development if you’re not a registered voter; many things will happen if CDCians can register,” he said.
He urged party officials, executives, and heads of auxiliary groups to register, adding that any party leaders who may not display voter registration cards will be subjected to the party’s action.
