Africa-Press – Liberia. The family of former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott, has described as a “bloody and bold-faced lie”, Cllr. Arthur Johnson’s assertion that the former Chief Justice “knows the individual” who allegedly murdered her niece, Charloe Musu on February 22.
Johnson, who is lawyer for Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee, had alleged on Thursday, May 4, that the former justice “knows” Musu’s alleged murderer(s).
“Cllr. Johnson willfully and intentionally repeated his falsehood against Justice Scott for reasons, the family believes, are purely to support the feeble political and malicious propaganda campaign against Scott in the wake of Charloe’s gruesome murder,” the family of the former chief justice said in a statement released on May 5.
According to the family, Johnson’s deliberate misrepresentation of Justice Scott is part of a politically inspired campaign of misinformation and character assassination, intended to divert public attention, politicize the ongoing investigation and “bury the facts and truth of who murdered Musu, how and why she was murdered.”
The family maintained that contrary to Johnson’s falsification of available facts, Scott, during her first appearance at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police in March this year, clearly and distinctly told the world through the media that “I know for a fact that there was somebody in our sleeping quarters who should not have been there, and this person is the person that killed Charloe Musu.”
“She didn’t die by herself. I know that for a fact. When I encountered this person, I engaged their eyes and I put the pepper spray in their eyes, because it was a question of life and death,” the family released.
The late Musu’s death took place during the third attack on the home of the former Chief Justice, on the night of February 22 by unknown individual(s). And hours after the third attack police issued a statement insinuating that the assassin might have been a domestic worker.
Following the first two attacks on her home, Scott alarmed and reported the matter to the police and the Ministry of Justice. However, state protection was not given in the process.
After Musu’s death, the former chairman of the erstwhile Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), Cllr. Jerome Verdier, alleged that the attack on Scott’s home was carried out by one Varlee Telleh, who, according to Verdier, served as operations officer at the Monrovia City Police detail, under the direct command of Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee.
Verdier’s revelation forced the police to to invite Koijee and Telleh. Johnson, after the questioning, told the media that his clients were only questioned about their whereabouts during the incident that occurred at the former chief justice’s home, to which they responded properly, and that at the end the police did not find any probable cause to press charges.
Musu, according to an autopsy report, died from multiple injuries which resulted in severe bleeding and damage to the blood vessel under her rib.
In his findings, Pathologist Dr. Benedict Kolee noted that a sharp object was used to piece the late Charlie many times in a very violent manner, and that the injuries cut a blood vessel under her rib, causing her to bleed profusely outside and inside.
Meanwhile, the former Chief Justice family says they believe Johnson’s deliberate attempt to feed the public with lies against Scott is intended to support the many conspiracy theories put together by him and allies and benefactors whose sole intent is to confuse the public, “bury the truth and further victimize the injured family and allow the perpetrators of this heinous crime (murder) to go free.”
The family then warned Johnson and his likes to desist from their evil campaign of misinformation and disinformation against Scott and the Musu family, as they reserve all rights to pursue legal actions under the laws of Liberia now and anytime legally permitted in the future.
“We are happy that both the raw audio and video of Justice Scott’s interview at the LNP Headquarters are still available on multiple social and traditional media platforms and in the family’s possession, as well as in the possession of lawyers and other interested individuals and institutions including our international partners,” the family’s release added.
