Liberia: ECC Deploys Observers to Monitor Voter Exhibition Exercise

Africa-Press – Liberia. The Election Coordinating Committee (ECC) has announced a number of measures to defend the country’s democracy and strengthen the electoral systems against external and other threats.

One of such, according to ECC Chairman Oscar Bloh, is the critical incidents report, which he said will be monitored by the 92 observers that have already been deployed across the 15 counties for the National Election Commission (NEC) exhibition process.

The exhibition process runs from June 12-17, 2023.

Bloh noted that observers have been tasked to monitor the 19 county coordinators, as well as, the 73 electrical districts.

In a release dated Tuesday, June 13, Bloh said, “ECC observers will also submit critical incidents report wherever they observed issues that threatened the peaceful conduct of the October 10 presidential and parliamentary elections”

According to Bloh, his observers are going to monitor the NEC’s exhibition of its provisional registration roll from June 12,-17, and they will also follow up on the claims and objection process that will be held at NEC Magisterial offices beginning June 19-24.

“The report will be submitted via coded text messages to the ECC data center in Monrovia for verification and analysis,” Bloh indicated. “Our observers will also submit critical incident reports wherever they observe issues that threaten the peaceful conduct of the election,” said Bloh.

He said they would maintain a data center at its secretariat in Monrovia with a team of trained data clerks to measure the database.

He explained that the observers reports are received directly into this sophistication database to reduce data entry error and speedups data data analysis.

He said the clerks would be responsible for reviewing all observers’ report checklists and critical incidents to ensure accuracy before compiling observation updates and communicating to the public.

“ECC will issue update and statement based on observation findings to the public as the process progressive follow by a comprehensive report, and will regularly update it’s social media Facebook page and twitter,” the ECC boss noted.

In addition to updating and final report on exhibition process, Bloh said, they will immediately share with the appropriate authorities any verified critical incidents report or any relevant information to allow for immediate redress.
