Africa-Press – Liberia. The Global Startup Awards (GSA), the largest independent startup ecosystem competition in the world, has selected “My WatchmanTM,” as “Founder of the Year” in the Western Africa region.
The GSA Western Africa Awards competition identifies and offers rewards to promising startup businesses and entrepreneurs. It also connects the best of Western African tech startups across the region to a global network of leading investors and innovation ecosystems.
Oliver Klark, Founder and CEO of My WatchmanTM noted that the award is a victory for Liberia as his “company is the Liberian Technology company to be recognized on the global stage.”
“This award is a triumph for Liberia because it provides the nation a stage to present novel ideas and various technologies that were created locally and might be used all over the continent. We are happy that we won but, more importantly, we believe that this is a significant victory for all Liberians.
“My WatchmanTM was nominated in three categories: Startup of the Year – East Africa Region – Kenya; Ecosystem Hero of the Year–West Africa Region – Liberia; and Founder of the Year – West Africa Region–Liberia,” Klark said. “Following series of vetting processes and showcasing our innovation and outstanding contributions to the Africa startup ecosystem, we emerged as winner of the ‘Founder of the Year 2022/2023 in the Global Startup Awards Western Africa region’ from amongst 8,300 plus startups across the continent.”
He claimed that his goal is to ensure that WatchmanTM serves as the medium through which critical emergency and social response services in developing countries are accessed quickly.

“We are happy to have won this, but more importantly for us, we think this is a significant victory for all Liberians. Without you, our staff, subscribers, and partners — both domestic and foreign, such as Saprea, the Liberia National Fire Service, Liberia National Police, Ministry of Health, Wellness Partners Clinic, Pilot Security, SEGAL, and Genesis, among others—we would not have advanced this far,” he said.
He said that as the recipient of this fantastic achievement, he will compete for the continental Founder of the Year, Global Startup Awards alongside other recipients from North, South, and East Africa.
“At My WatchmanTM, we believe that access to critical emergency response services should not be a privilege. Every family should be able to afford these services, regardless of their social or economic status. That is why we have built an affordable, dependable, and reliable emergency response platform and network with inclusive pricing, putting safety in the palm of your hand, and giving you and your loved ones that peace of mind, knowing that help is only one CLICK AWAY,” he said.Klark, Jr. also urges everyone to support My WatchmanTM in the competition’s final round of voting.
