Africa-Press – Liberia. President George Manneh Weah is set to dedicate the renovated Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Capitol Hill, Monrovia, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
The dedication of the refurbished ministry aligns with President Weah’s Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD), a flagship program that emphasizes the expansion and modernization of government-owned buildings.
Upon assuming the presidency, President Weah pledged to prioritize creating a conducive environment for all government employees.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has undergone extensive renovation, thanks to funding from the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for repairs and maintenance from the 5th floor to the basement.
Additionally, the Kingdom of Morocco provided funding for the renovation of the entire 6th floor, the C. Cecil Dennis Auditorium, the Foyer, the Façade, and the construction of a generator house to accommodate a 500KVA generator, generously donated by the government and people of the Kingdom of Morocco.
According to a release from the Foreign Ministry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dean of the Cabinet, Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., played a key role in negotiating the funding for the renovation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Morocco.
In adherence to President Weah’s Liberianization policy, the renovation work has been entrusted to a Liberian company named MDMC.
The dedication ceremony on Wednesday is expected to be attended by President Weah and an array of government officials from the Executive, as well as members of the 55th National Legislature.
