Africa-Press – Liberia. Richard Ngafuan said the knowledge they have gained will not only shape their individual futures but also positively impact Liberia.

The Director General of the Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), Richard Nganfuan, has praised graduates of the Teens Media Network Liberia as the “voices for change” that Liberia and the world need for transformation.

Speaking as keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony held at Prayer Move Mountains Ministries Inc. in Paynesville, Nganfuan encouraged the youth to embrace their role as agents of societal change.

He said the knowledge they have gained will not only shape their individual futures but also positively impact Liberia.

“This graduation will lead to another transformation in our country,” he said. “When I sat and listened to the various voices dissecting the areas they were taught, I saw clarity, passion, and potential. You are eloquent, you are wonderful, and you will be the ones to shift and direct this country’s future.”

Nganfuan stressed the importance of passion, purpose, and preparation in leadership. “In this life, you need to be motivated by your passion. Once you have the passion and the calling, God will do the rest,” he told the graduates.

The event marked the completion of a training program that introduced young Liberians to key areas such as advocacy, public speaking, leadership development, media literacy, career planning, and digital citizenship.

Emphasizing the importance of advocacy, Nganfuan urged the graduates to speak out against injustice and to hold themselves and their communities accountable. “Today, you now carry the tools to perform where there is injustice. Change begins with transformed families and communities,” he said.

Addressing Liberia’s growing drug addiction problem, he described it as “almost like encountering demons,” warning that it is easy to fall into but difficult to escape. He encouraged the graduates to speak out for safer, healthier communities.

On leadership, Nganfuan noted that leadership is not about being loud but about making a meaningful impact. “Being a leader doesn’t mean making the loudest sound. It’s about making sense – because too many people make noise rather than sense,” he stated. “Be compassionate leaders. Tomorrow, you must lead the change.”

He also commended the facilitators of the program for equipping the youth with valuable knowledge. “Today is not just about celebrating certificates, but about crowning a journey toward lifelong success,” he said.

The Teens Media Network Liberia is a youth-driven initiative that aims to empower teenagers with media and communication skills to amplify their voices and bring positive change to their communities.

The program was created to nurture a generation of confident, thoughtful, and creative young leaders who can influence society through words and innovation.
