Africa-Press – Liberia. LLA Chairman Atty. J. Adams Manobah, Sr. has encouraged the newly inducted officials of the Liberia Land Authority to prioritize the well-being of the Liberian people within the land sector.
In August of this year, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, in accordance with Chapter 4, Section 16 of the LLA and his constitutional obligation, appointed three skilled and experienced technicians to the LLA Board of Commissioners from both within and outside the Liberia Land Authority (LLA). These appointments impacted key departments within the LLA, with Acting Commissioners being assigned to the Department for Land Policy and Planning, the Department for Land Administration, and the Department for Land Use and Management.
The President’s recent nominations, many believe, reflect a focus on expertise and professionalism within the organization. Those inducted over the weekend were Ali Kaba, Commissioner for Land Policy and Planning, Dr. Mahmoud Solomon, Commissioner for Land Administration, and Uriah Garsini, Commissioner for Land Use and Management.
In his remarks at the induction ceremony, Atty. Manobah emphasized the importance of land tenure and security in national development, highlighting the role of the Liberia Land Authority in supporting agricultural sustainability and food security as outlined in the national agenda.
The Acting Commissioners expressed their commitment to enhancing and advancing the Liberia Land sector in their respective capacities. They commended President Boakai for the opportunity to serve and pledged to contribute to the growth and development of the institution.
Various speakers at the ceremony, including Acting Director for Administration and Human Resources Varney V. Sheriff and Vice Chair for Administration and Customer Service, Joe K. Williams, called on the Acting Commissioners to prioritize the best interests of the institution and its staff.
Williams called on his colleagues to do what is in the best interest of the institution and staff, underscoring the need for them to place aside their interests and prioritize the supreme interest of the institution and staff, something he said will contribute greatly toward paving the way for them to be confirmed.
He emphasized that based on his colleagues’ huge technical expertise, practical experience, qualifications, and work outputs, he believes that his colleagues will bring the institution to an expected level and subsequently shall be confirmed by the Senate.
The event was attended by distinguished members of the Liberia Land Authority, partners, and staff, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing operations within the land sector.
