Africa-Press – Liberia. The National President of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has announced plans to honor several outstanding judges during the Association’s 2025 Annual Convention, slated for December in Ganta City, Nimba County.
The convention will run from December 4–7, 2025, at the Wuo Garbe Tarppia Intellectual Hall, Peace Empire Hotel.
Speaking at a press conference, LNBA President Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah said the Association will use the gathering to recognize high-performing judges for the significant number of cases they disposed of during 2025—an achievement he said has strengthened public confidence in the judiciary.
The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. under the theme: “Strengthening the Rule of Law: The Lawyer’s Role in Restoring Public Trust.”
Cllr. Varmah will preside over the proceedings, which aim to unite legal professionals in addressing key issues of justice delivery and public trust.
This year’s convention will feature Cllr. Mark M. Marvey, Managing Partner at Beyond Law Chambers and former member of the LNBA National Executive Council, as the keynote speaker.
In addition to formal sessions, the convention will include social and fraternal activities intended to foster unity among members. A major highlight is the mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program designed to enhance the professional competence of lawyers. Counsellors and Attorneys-at-Law are strongly encouraged to attend, as participation will enable them to earn the ten (10) CLE credit hours required for the 2025 professional year.
The CLE component will cover three key topics including the “Introduction to the Value-Added Tax Law of 2024,” which replaces the Goods and Services Tax (GST), including Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) Regulation No. 136 and the related rules, procedures for implementation of the Value-Added Tax Law of 2024, which amends Chapter 10 of the Revenue Code of 2000.
These presentations will be delivered by the legal team of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA).
A review of the Rules of Court, based on recommendations submitted by a committee established by the Honorable Supreme Court.
The convention will also feature a parade and sporting events on Saturday, December 6.
As the LNBA’s highest decision-making body, the annual convention provides a forum for dialogue and recommendations aimed at strengthening the rule of law in Liberia. Organizers say they expect full participation from members in a professional and collaborative environment.
Meanwhile, the LNBA has announced the completion of the ground floor of its National Headquarters, located along the Roberts International Airport Highway. A comprehensive progress report on the project will be presented during the convention.
The leadership expressed gratitude to members and supporters who have contributed to the success of the ongoing headquarters project.
