LNOC President Wants GOL Focus on Other Sports

Africa-Press – Liberia. The presider of the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) Philipbert S. Browne wants the Government of Liberia to diversify its sports focus away from football, claiming smaller sports are at risk of dying out if strategy is not changed.

He claimed not much resources have been given to improve other sports over the years.

“This is a trend we must halt as a nation else financial challenges will kill the other disciplines,” said Brown.

“The national teams are properties of the state and the state must be seen to be showing concern about the state of these disciplines.” Mr. Browne told Freedom FM sports over the weekend.

He warned that the Government have to allocate a percentage of football funds to allow other National Federations to survive; calling out the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority to take action because the government is not supporting her respective National Teams.

The LNOC President made the statement Saturday, February 17 ,2024 when he appeared as a guest on Freedom Weekend Sports.
