Africa-Press – Liberia. The president of Liberia Football Association (LFA) third division side National Youth Street Soccer (NYSS) has called on his players to focus their attention on their next game following their victory over Red Lion FC.

Orheus James Karpeh’s team, National Youth Street Soccer, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, secured a convincing 7-1 triumph over Red Lion FC in continuation of the LFA Central Monrovia third division league at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia.

Karpeh stressed that his team’s convincing victory came after their previous 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mamba Point Warriors. He called on his players to maintain their experienced ball control and finishing touches.

National Youth Street Soccer has so far played five games in the league with four wins and one defeat, but the team president wants his head Coach Levi Emmanuel Gweamee to continue his tactical training program with the players as they continue to challenge for the LFA third division league.

William P. Foday scored a hat-trick plus one for Street Soccer, while Edwin Gbaysay got a brace, and Ben Momo put his name on the score sheet, while Patrick Konneh scored a consolation goal for Red Lion.

Striker Korneh, who scored his side’s lone goal, attributed his team’s defeat to the injuries most of his teammates are suffering from but assured their fans of a serious comeback in their next game.

In the day’s last encounter also at the ATS, Mamba Point Warriors forced 10 men Soccer Ambassador to a 4-4 draw after taking a 2-0 lead in the 50th minute of the game while Soccer Ambassador made a comeback in the second half and took a 4-2 lead but also failed to maintain their 4-2 lead. Coach Jerry I. Gonowolo attributed his side’s first draw of the season out of five games played, in which they won four, to members of his midfield failing to control the game, especially in the second half after taking a 2-0 lead. He called on his players to learn from their mistakes made in the game so that they will be able to make a comeback in their next game. Coach Kamoh Massaquoi of Soccer Ambassador blamed his team’s defense for poorly defending and also his striker’s failure to put into better use the best scoring chances they had in both halves of the game.
