Monrovia, Liberia; October 3, 3035 – The Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Sekou A.M. Dukuly, on Thursday, assured students of the University of Liberia and its leadership that he will lead the charge to raise US$1 million through Private-public partnerships (PPPs) as part of efforts to revamp the University and improve its infrastructure.

The assurances come amidst students’ outcries about the dilapidated and filthy campuses of the University of Liberia, making learning difficult for them.

Recently, students of the campus-based Students Unification Party (SUP), warned the Liberian legislature to upgrade their dilapidated campuses before the proposed renovation of the Capitol Building.

However, addressing an invitation from the University of Liberia Student Union Interim Leadership (USIL) Assessment and Tour on October 2, 2025, Dukuly stated that the NPA will lead the charge to raise one million dollars to support the campus.

According to him, the PPPs seek to advance the UL, which he describes as the hub of learning and a contributor to Liberia’s growth.

He said the funds will be raised within six months to fast-track renovation and modernization.

The NPA boss urged all hands on deck, rallying private and public partners, while stating that the one million in funds, when raised, will contribute to the upliftment of the nation’s premier institution of higher learning and strategically enhance its growth.

Managing Director Dukuly, at the same time, admonished students that education is the greatest equalizer they will carry as they journey into the future.

“Do not mind your current condition, and don’t come to school, because education is the greatest thing you will achieve, despite the situation,” Dukuly said.

J. Blio B. Tingban, President, University of Liberia Student Interim Leadership (USIL) commended Dukuly for his visit, while stressing the need for further collaboration with the NPA.

Tingban outlines challenges facing the institution, including chairs, infrastructure, security, access to healthcare, and transportation, among others.

Mr. Dukuly has also promised to provide 1,000 chairs for the University.
