Africa-Press – Liberia. In a heartwarming gesture of compassion and service, the Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS), through its Youth and Volunteer Development Commission, in partnership with the Yayeh Initiative, has provided essential school supplies to more than 70 schoolchildren in Bentol City, Montserrado County.

Students from Youth Camp Public School, Gbokolleh Elementary Public School, and Elder John T.T. Gayflor Daycare School received book bags, copybooks, pencils, and shoes, reaffirming the Red Cross’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of humanitarian leaders.

Speaking during the outreach, Ms. Grace Weah, National Youth Representative and Chairperson of the LNRCS Youth and Volunteer Development Commission, emphasized that true humanitarian leadership begins with small acts of kindness.

“Every act of kindness plants a seed for a better society,” Ms. Weah said. “By supporting children today, we are investing in future leaders who will carry forward the spirit of humanity, service, and solidarity.”

She added that education is a cornerstone of community development and aligns with the Red Cross’s focus on Humanitarian Values and Principles, Protection, Gender and Inclusion (PGI), and resilience building.

The event also showcased strong collaboration between the Red Cross and the Yayeh Initiative, a youth-led organization dedicated to education and empowerment. Ambassador Yayehsorie Jalloh, Executive Director of the Yayeh Initiative Inc., described the partnership as a beacon of hope for Liberia’s young generation.

“Working with the Red Cross demonstrates the power of collaboration for humanity,” Amb. Jalloh said. “Together, we are not only reaching schools but changing lives. When we equip children with the tools they need to learn, we are investing in Liberia’s future.”

School authorities also hailed the initiative as timely and inspiring. Mrs. Maryann Z.T. Mboma, Principal of Elder John T.T. Gayflor Memorial Sanctuary of Praise Academy, expressed gratitude for the donation.

“This support has lifted a burden off many parents who struggle to provide basic school materials,” she said. “Our students are encouraged and motivated to stay in school and study harder.”

The LNRCS continues to empower young people through school clubs across several counties, promoting health and hygiene education, humanitarian values, and youth leadership development.

Through partnerships like this, the Liberia National Red Cross Society remains unwavering in its mission to build resilient communities through the power of youth, volunteerism, and humanity in action.
