Restp-L Launches to Empower Rural Women and Youth

Africa-Press – Liberia. The Rural Empowerment Skills Training Program of Liberia (RESTP-L) has been officially launched in Bonkomu Clan, Sannoyea District, Lower Bong County, with the aim of equipping local women and youth with practical, hands-on vocational skills.

The launch event attracted key figures from the Unity Party in Bong County, including County Secretary General James Janteh, Madam Hawa Momo, and Enoch Kermue Darwolo Morris Sr., Administrator of C.B. Dunbar Hospital. The initiative is led by Executive Director Isaac Holder and sponsored by Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye.

RESTP-L is focused on providing participants with marketable skills to promote self-employment, increase household incomes, and stimulate local economic growth in Sannoyea District. According to Holder, the program’s hands-on curriculum includes training in liquid soap production, charcoal briquette making, Tia soap production, floor wash manufacturing, tie-and-dye techniques, hair grease production, medicated soap production, and other income-generating activities.

The program is set to directly benefit communities across approximately nine villages in the Bonkomu Clan area, including Kpotolomah, Dankpansue, Korlointa, Dahnta, Pitayaqulleh, Monlongbayn, Vuku Village, and others.

Holder expressed deep appreciation to Senator Moye for his steadfast support of youth and women’s empowerment initiatives in Bong County. “True leadership is demonstrated not by words, but by the tangible transformation of lives in our communities,” Holder stated, describing the senator’s commitment as a model for public service.

The launch of RESTP-L represents a significant step toward addressing economic challenges in rural Liberia, where access to vocational training remains limited. The program seeks to build sustainable livelihoods and promote self-reliance among vulnerable groups in Lower Bong County.
