River Gee County Association in Americas Congratulates President-elect Boakai

Africa-Press – Liberia. The River Gee County Association in the Americas (RIGCAA) has congratulated Joseph Nyumah Boakai on his victory in Liberia’s tightly-contested presidential runoff election held on 14 November.During the final announcement of results on 20 November, National Elections Commission Chairperson Davidetta Browne-Lasanah declared Unity Party’s Boakai as president-elect after he obtained 814,481 votes, amounting to 50.64 percent, while President George Manneh Weah of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change got 793,914 votes, constituting 49.36 percent.

Browne-Lasanah said 1,680,395 valid votes were recorded, while there were 25,788 invalid votes. RIGCAA National President Aloysius Sebastian Benjamin, Jr. congratulated Boakai on behalf of his people.

“During a telephone call on November 22, 2023, I used the occasion to also thank the Liberian people for peaceful elections and President Weah for conceding defeat for the peace of Liberia.

“In response, Ambassador Boakai thanked the River Gee citizens in the United States for their love for Liberia and assured them that his administration will work hard to provide basic services for all Liberians,” said Benjamin.

RIGCAA, founded in 2002, is headquartered in Minnesota, United States of America (USA). It was established by citizens of River Gee County residing in the USA, known as Geepos, with concern and vested interest in the socioeconomic development of River Gee County, where citizens constituted themselves into an organization in the Americas called RIGCAA.

RIGCAA has been involved in development activities in River Gee County, such as helping to pay tuitions and medical fees for needy students and adults who are training for public service areas: nursing and teaching in Liberia. A library project is being financed by RIGCAA in Fish Town.

RIGCAA is a nonprofit registered organization in the USA with 501(c)(3) status. Alphonso Tarue was the president of the first elected leadership of RIGCAA, along with Vice President Yancy Sieh, General Secretary Kirkpatrick Weah, Chaplain Kaye Norwanie, and Treasurer Cecelia Elliot. The current leadership is headed by Benjamin, along with Vice President Sylvanus Tipayson, General Secretary Jay Blama Young, Chaplain Fatu Kear (Pastor), Treasurer Beatrice Nagbe (Mrs.), and Parliamentarian Oretha Matilda (Mrs.).

Johnson Doe, II, Chairman; Mrs. Mimi Barclay, Co-chairperson; Hon. Cepheus Choloplay, General Secretary, and members Raymond Chea and Minister Albert Pah serve as the board of directors.
