Africa-Press – Liberia. The Liberian Senate reconvenes today, October 10, 2025, marking the beginning of its 3rd Quarter of the 2nd Session in line with its amended legislative calendar.

The resumption follows the amendment of Section 1 of the Act Fixing Days for the Annual Adjournment of the Legislature, which establishes a structured schedule for three adjournment/recess periods, commonly referred to as constituency breaks.

According to the new Act, the first constituency break begins on the third Friday of March and ends on the second Friday of May each year.

The second constituency break starts on the third Friday of July and concludes on the second Friday of October.

The third constituency break takes place from the second Friday of December to the Friday immediately preceding the second working Monday of January.

The adjustment aligns with the Public Financial Management- PFM Law, which redefines the fiscal year to run from January 1 to December 31, replacing the previous July 1 to June 30 cycle.

As the Senate resumes, discussions are expected to focus on key national priorities, including economic reforms, review of concession agreements, development initiatives, and scrutiny and subsequent passage of the draft 2026 National Budget.
