True Whig Party Removes Chairman Reginald Goodridge in No-Confidence Vote

Africa-Press – Liberia. The decision was made during a high-level meeting held in Monrovia on April 30, 2025.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the True Whig Party (TWP) has passed a vote of no confidence in its Chairman, Reginald Goodridge, citing his failure to uphold key constitutional responsibilities and the continued decline of the party.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting held in Monrovia on April 30. A group of about 20 NEC members, including the party’s Standard Bearer Eric Olison, county chairpersons, and national officers, signed a statement calling for Goodridge’s removal.

The executives accused Chairman Goodridge of failing to convene a national convention as mandated by the party’s constitution, which requires such gatherings every six years. They noted that this neglect has contributed to a weakening of the party’s structure and national influence.

The statement was signed by prominent party figures including Olison, National Chairlady Hawa Johnson, Youth Chair Dukuly Mambu, and county leaders such as Adolphus Capehart, Said Seton Sackor, Varney Sando, Richard Bracewell, Ezekiel Berge, Emmanuel Gono, Moses P. Bombo, and Moses S. Mulbah.

In the wake of the no-confidence vote, the Executive Committee is expected to appoint an acting chairperson to lead the TWP into its upcoming national convention.

The party has also formally requested the presence of the National Elections Commission (NEC) at its scheduled convention set for October 30, 2025, to observe and ensure a transparent and credible process.
