Africa-Press – Liberia. The Unity Party (UP) Alliance of Political Parties has praised President Joseph Boakai for what it describes as a “landmark diplomatic milestone” following the United States government’s decision to extend the validity of visas for Liberian citizens from 12 months to 36 months.
Last week, the U.S. Embassy In Monrovia earlier announced that effective immediately, Liberian applicants for nonimmigrant visas would benefit from a 36-month validity period, allowing multiple entries within that time frame.
In a statement issued Friday, the UP Alliance said the development underscores Liberia’s “renewed global standing” and demonstrates President Boakai’s “visionary leadership in restoring the nation’s confidence and respect on the world stage.”
“This milestone symbolizes the confidence and respect Liberia continues to earn under President Boakai’s administration,” the Alliance declared. “It reflects not only his commitment to sound diplomacy but also his determination to rebuild Liberia’s reputation as a trusted and respected global partner.”
According to the Alliance, the U.S. government’s move will have far-reaching benefits for Liberia’s economic, educational, and cultural sectors, opening more avenues for exchange and cooperation.
“The extension of visa validity from one year to three years strengthens U.S.-Liberia bilateral relations and paves the way for expanded opportunities in trade, commerce, education, and cultural exchange,” the statement continued. “This is a clear signal that the international community recognizes the positive direction in which our country is headed.”
The Alliance also commended Minister of Foreign Affairs Sara Beysolow Nyanti and her team at the Ministry for what it called “professionalism, consistency, and effective diplomatic engagement” in advancing President Boakai’s foreign policy vision.
“Minister Nyanti and her team have been steadfast in their commitment to advancing Liberia’s interests abroad. Their professionalism and strategic diplomacy have yielded results that every Liberian can be proud of,” the group noted.
The UP Alliance described the visa extension as “an inspiring outcome” that will deepen international partnerships, foster stronger people-to-people connections, and enhance Liberia’s image globally.
“This is a win for every Liberian — at home and in the diaspora,” the statement added. “It shows that when leadership is guided by integrity, humility, and vision, the world responds with respect and cooperation.”
Alliance called on all Liberians to unite behind President Boakai’s leadership, emphasizing that collective effort and national pride are essential to sustaining Liberia’s progress.
“Liberia is moving forward — rebuilding trust, restoring pride, and reinforcing global partnerships,” the group said.
The UP Alliance believes this latest development is proof that “the world is once again seeing Liberia as a serious and credible partner under Boakai’s watch.”
