Africa-Press – Liberia. The National Chairman of the ruling Unity Party (UP) Rev. Luther Tarpeh has assured citizens across the country that the party will do all in its power to change Liberia for the greater good.
“We want you to understand that the Unity Party will not disappoint those who believe in the leadership of the Unity Party,” said Chairman Tarpeh.
According to him, Liberia is poised to witness a massive change with a specific focus on declaring drugs as a national emergency.
Rev. Tarpeh said the initiative underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to address challenges that have hindered the growth of the country.
Addressing UP auxiliaries over the weekend in Paynesville, the UP Chairman sought to speak to the high expectations of the public about the transformation of the country and the lives of the citizens.
Chairman Tarpeh emphasized the devastating impact of narcotic substances on the youthful population, something he said contributed to the growing number of disadvantaged youths across the country.
He stated that President Boakai will not be able to provide jobs for every Liberian, instead, the party and the government will create a conducive environment where Liberians will work and support their families.
“We are going to work on the drug pandemic that is swallowing our nation. We will declare war and state of emergency on drugs,” he added.
According to him, the essence of declaring war on drugs is to redeem the youthful population who have fallen prey to the menace.
Tarpeh assured Liberians that the UP government would tackle corruption, saying those entering the government will declare their assets.
