Africa-Press – Liberia. Bea Mountain Football Club secured their place in the grand final of the 2025 Betomax Champions Cup after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Freeport FC on Thursday.
The decisive goal came in stoppage time from youngster Ralph Weah, sealing a dramatic win.
The semifinal, played at Tusa Field, was an end-to-end battle from the start.
Bea Mountain took an early lead when Fredrick Dennis scored his third goal of the tournament with a spectacular curled free kick. However, just before halftime, Freeport responded through Amos Sogbe, who slotted home a well-worked goal to level the score at 1-1.
The second half brought even more drama. Freeport appeared set for an upset when Christopher Moore put them ahead with a sharp finish, sparking wild celebrations from their supporters.
But Bea Mountain’s talisman, Dennis, had other plans. From another set piece, the dead-ball specialist delivered a carbon copy free kick, restoring parity at 2-2 and further cementing his reputation as one of the tournament’s most lethal players.
Just when the match seemed destined for extra time, the moment of the evening arrived with seconds remaining in stoppage time, Freeport’s defense faltered under pressure, and the ball fell kindly to Ralph Weah.
The youngster, a recent addition to Bea Mountain, showed nerves of steel as he calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper, sending the Cape Mount faithful into jubilation.
The 3-2 victory puts Bea Mountain into Sunday’s grand final against Heaven Eleven.
The two teams previously met in the group stage, with Bea Mountain emerging victorious—a result that adds an extra layer of intrigue to the final.
At stake is the grand prize of US$10,000 for the champions and US$5,000 for the runners-up, along with medals and individual awards.
For Bea Mountain, the semifinal win was another statement of intent, highlighted by Fredrick Dennis’s brace of free kicks and Weah’s dramatic finish. For Freeport, it was a heartbreaking end to a promising run, as their dreams were dashed in the final moments.
Meanwhile the third place match will see Freeport taking on Global Pharma just before the final whistle at Tusa field.
The organizers Bettomax announced that the final game will be an open gate for fans to watch classical football.
