Africa-Press – Malawi. The Malawi Police Chief who is also the matron for Blue Eagles FC, Merlyn Nachulu Yolamu has promised unlimited support to the team. The IG said this on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 when she witnessed her team thrashing relegated TN Stars FC 5-0 courtesy of Micium Mhone, Ganizani James and a hat trick from Christopher Gototo.
Yolamu said as Police, they love their team Blue Eagles FC and wish it to always be on the winning side. “Football connects us with the communities. My coming was to motivate the boys and assure them that the management mind about them. Let me assure them that we will continue giving them the much needed support and they should expect a great change in the future”,
“We are ready to sponsor the team to play in CAF Competition, as management we are discussing about it as the international games will definitely help to build the relationship between the Police and Civilians hence reducing the cross border crimes. The team should start preparing for the tournament”, Yolamu said.
It was a sweet revenge for the cops who suffered a painful 0-1 in Kasungu in the first round as they were closely chasing the Champions Nyasa Big Bullets FC hence TN Stars paid for their sins as the Eagles were flying high in the presence of their matron.
Micium Mhone, Schumacher Kuwali, Richard Rapson, Christopher Gototo were marvelous to watch attacking the Kasungu based side wave after wave. They could have scored dozens of goals had it been there were no misses from Captain Schumacher Kuwali, Richard Rapson and Gaddie Chirwa.
No wonder, Christopher Gototo was voted man of the match, In the postmatch interviews, Blue Eagles’ Assistant coach Christopher Sibale, hailed the Inspector General for coming and watch the match saying this as a great motivation to the players.
Sibale added they planned well to revenge the damage TN Stars FC did to his side in the first round. ” We want to finish on a high note hence looking forward to win against MAFCO FC this Saturday. Yes, league has gone but now our focus will be on Airtel Top 8 Cup”, said Sibale.
Chifundo Nyirenda, TN Stars team Manager, acknowledged the defeat saying they did not play well hence the result was a true reflection of the game. Nyirenda added they have used the final games to prepare for the CRFA Chipiku Premier Division league which they will be playing in in the forthcoming season. He vowed to return in the elite league soon.
Blue Eagles FC are the 2022 TNM Super league runners up to the 16th time champions Nyasa Big Bullets FC, they have played 29 games and managed to collect 62 points. The Eagles may finish with 65 points if they win their last game against MAFCO FC at home Nankhaka on Saturday.
