Africa-Press – Malawi. The National Planning Commission of Malawi (NPC) has crowned President Lazarus Chakwera the Malawi 2063 Overall Champion. This comes as NPC is awarding notable individuals for their overwhelming contribution and efforts in helping the country achieve the Malawi 2063 Agenda.

Following this, on Sunday November 13, NPC presented certificate of recognition to President Chakwera at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe where the commission’s chairperson Richard Mkandawire said the gesture follows Chakwera’s passion towards the Malawi blueprint.

Mkandawire further pointed out that since day one, the Malawi leader has been keeping his focus at attaining the inclusively wealthy and self-reliant nation as espoused in the Malawi 2063 Agenda.

The chairperson continued by commending Chakwera for his tireless efforts when it comes to mobilising resources for projects started by his predecessors, such as the Phalombe District Hospital and Shire Valley Transformation Project.

Reacting to the recognition, Chakwera said he was humbled and at the same time challenged to put an extra gear towards developing the country Chakwera further added that he has received the certificate on behalf of all Malawians who are making efforts to make the MW2063 vision a reality.

This comes as last week the National Planning Commission of Malawi also awarded former Presidents Peter Mutharika and Bingu Wa Mutharika with certificates of recognition as inter-generational development champions.

Presenting the certificates at Page House in Mangochi, the commission said the two Mutharikas are some of the architects of the 2063 Vision hence NPC’s consideration to present the Malawi 2063 recognition awards.

NPC through Mkandawire also said the two former Presidents cannot miss the history of the commission for their strong belief in long-term planning of developments, belief in youth empowerment and taking development to rural areas among other things.
