Africa-Press – Malawi. The Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has expressed satisfaction with the K18 million which has been generated through e-ticketing since the season started on April 5.
According to a report which Times Sport has seen, about K5.9 million was collected during the first week of the season.
During the second week, Sulom got about K3.1 million through the initiative and the third week saw the association collecting about K1.5 million.
In the fourth week, Sulom raised about K451,000 through e-ticketing.
The association collected about K768,000 in the fifth week and about K2.2 million in the sixth week.
In the seventh week, Sulom generated about K3.8 million.
Sulom Treasurer Ali Mwachande said the figures were encouraging and hoped that the revenue could be doubled in the next two months or so.
“We, as Sulom, are happy with the figures and it is our belief that money paid through e-ticketing during TNM Super League matches is not only secured and convenient but goes directly to the teams they support.
“We are, therefore, calling on supporters from across the country to migrate from the use of cash-paying at the gates or kiosks into using this modern way of paying during matches,” Mwachande said.
TNM Brands and Communication Manager Gift Nkhoma referred us to Marketing Director Sobhuza Ngwenya, who asked for ample time before he could comment on the issue.
TNM Super League enters week eight with the Blantyre derby between rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers taking place at Kamuzu Stadium in the commercial city on Saturday.
Currently, Bullets, who demolished Kamuzu Barracks 4-0 on Saturday, lead the table with 18 points from six matches whereas Wanderers are second with 13 points from five matches, having drawn 1-1 against Silver Strikers 1-1 on Sunday.
