Africa-Press – Malawi. The Waliranji based side were Extremely prepared for the battle against Bullets Reserve FC in the FDH Bank Cup Semifinal as they gave the Chatama Coached side a tough run at Kamuzu Stadium.
Extreme FC lost 2-1 in the hands of Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve FC to bow out of the 2022 edition of FDH Bank Cup. Chikumbutso Salima broke the deadlock at 34th minute in the first half from a free kick, after he got fouled in the edge of the penalty box, he cleverly took it and scored.
The Chipiku Premier Division League 2021 runners up did not give but to ignite fire as they launched several attacks to find an equalizer. Extreme efforts were answered at 45th and 2 minute when former Blue Eagles FC player Beston Jimu scored a beauty from a corner kick.
Soon after the Extreme goal, Referee Rose Zomba blew the whistle to end the first half. Second half both teams started on a high note as they searched for the winning goals.
With Extreme FC controlling the midfield. After sensing danger Enos Chatama started making substitutions, Chimwemwe Yasin paved way for McCray Chiwaya at 58th minute.
At 62nd minute the host won a spot kick after a handball in the penalty box by Daniel Gift for Extreme and Salima made no mistake but to shot it past the goalie Blessings Juma to make it 2-1.
The visitors made two changes to add more power,Emmanuel Mbwezo and Lonjezo Kajedula were replaced by Maxwell Matewere and Tony Phiri at 74th and 85th minute respectively.
Both sides kept entertaining the spectators who turned at Kamuzu Stadium with the stylish display. Until Rose Zimba ended the match and yes Bullets Reserve FC registered on FDH #525 Bank Pakhomo as they cruised to the final.
The match produced two yellow cards which went to Aaron Chikuni and Meleeck Julius for confronting with the referee and a foul on Chrispin Mapemba. Bullets Reserve FC will be waiting for either Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC or Nyasa Big Bullets FC who play in semifinal two on September 24, at the Bingu National Stadium in the capital, Lilongwe.
Joseph Mlamba, Coach for Extreme FC, acknowledged the defeat and hailed his boys for fighting spirit which took them until the semifinal of the prestigious cup.
“We have displayed beautiful football to the satisfactory of the fans,my boys have been exposed and many have seen how teams from the districts are playing. As Extreme FC we will prepare well for the next edition”, Mlamba said.
While Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve FC coach Enos Chatama acknowledged it was a difficult game and said Extreme gave them a good run for their money. “My boys missed chances in the first 20 minutes which gave our friends confidence. I have noted some weaknesses we need to rectify as we go into the final”, Chatama said.
Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve FC have become the second non Super League team to reach the final of the national cup after Zomba United FC who managed the same in 2014 in Carlsberg Cup. They lost to Big Bullets FC 2-0 at Kamuzu Stadium.
