Africa-Press – Malawi. Youthful golfer Folindo Rodrick retained the Big Brother National Match Play Championship for the fourth successive time at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) on Sunday.

The in-form golfer finished the first round on 16th hole before completing 18 holes in the second round and 12 holes in the third round.

Rodrick, 23, outplayed runner-up Ganizani Rusho on his way to glory.

“I am thrilled to win the title for the fourth successive year and will not stop because I really enjoy playing Match Play golf,” he said.

Rodrick attributed his form to sound preparations and massive support from his sponsor George Damson.

Golf Union of Malawi (GUoM) Vice-President Michael Khomani said the Match Play had been incredible since it teed off.

He said the hole-by-hole competition started with qualifiers on May 24, attracting a field of 130 golfers at BSC, Nchalo Sports Club and Lilongwe Golf Club (LGC).

Khomani said the top 16 golfers from the qualifiers made it into the final round.

“We are excited with how the tournament started and finished,” the GUoM Vice President said.
