Africa-Press – Malawi. Disgruntled media team for the UTM Party has revealed that party leader and Vice President, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, has all along been planning to topple Malawi President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
UTM youths, who Chilima has used since 2018 when the party was formed, have become disgruntled over payment issues. Following this, the members have gone to the public with inside information which is proving to be damaging to the firebrand politician.
Writing on his Facebook page, one of the UTM trusted foot soldiers, John Cupstone, who has since fallen out with Chilima revealed that UTM planned to unseat the President through impeachment.
According to Cupstone, UTM, which so far, has four members of Parliament (MPs) planned to actualise their grand scheme by soliciting support by bribing some parliamentarians from Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
He wrote: “It was told in detail. John you have to bring MCP system (government) through impeachment. We have all the resources available for the task. Money is not even a problem. Even if it means losing millions, this must be done”
Cupstone has since threatened to even spill more beans by bringing the recordings of the grand scheme which was hatched at the party’s headquarters in Lilongwe should UTM continue waging war against him on social media.
The UTM fallout has heightened in recent weeks following after being fed up with Chilima for being ungrateful despite rendering to him the unwavering support in good and bad times.
