Africa-Press – Malawi. The Malawi Under-21 National Netball Team completed a clean sweep over the Zambia Under-21 National Netball Team after winning match three of the international Test Series in Lusaka.
The junior Queens beat the hosts 36- 29 at Olympic Youth Development Centre yesterday.
It was the third successive victory for the junior Queens, who also defeated Zambia 44-31 on Saturday and 48-36 on Friday.
Before the final test match, Malawi Under-21 Coach Noel Mussa made some changes to the side as he continued rotating players to fully understand his squad.
Goal shooter Stella Matellezi was restored into the team, having started on the bench on Saturday, whereas wing attack Alinafe Chaima, wing defence Christina Type and goalkeeper Martha Matupi also started.
The quartet replaced Florence Jeke, Melia Soko, Esther Phiri and Chimwemwe Dzanja, who started in Saturday’s match.
During yesterday’s match, Malawi made a slow start as the hosts led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second half, the junior Queens came with their guns blazing to narrowly lead 16-15 at half time.
The junior Queens did not relax as they extended the lead to 25- 21 at the end of the third quarter.
The teams are using the matches in preparation for the Netball World Youth Cup finals slated for Gibraltar next month.
The Malawi Under- 21’s trip to Lusaka was jointly sponsored by the team’s sponsors Mukuru and the Malawi National Council of Sports.
