Africa-Press – Malawi. Music against Malaria, an organisation which uses music to fight malaria, will continue to operate normally, despite one of the co-founders Annemarie Quinn leaving for the United Kingdom (UK) next month.
After staying in the country for five years when she, among others, worked with different artists and released an album titled Blue Sky Thinking, Annemarie said she is going back to the United Kingdom.
She said her going to United Kingdom was not the end of everything which she has built with friends in the country but rather her going there will also open up more opportunities.
“Music against Malaria is there and will continue and I will try as much to keep raising funds for the growth of the organisation and also operations in the fight against malaria,” Annemarie said.
Annemarie last Thursday performed at Sounds of Malawi Acoustic session at Jacaranda Cultural Centre in Blantyre and this turned out to be her last solo act.
She is also set to perform at a Zathu Zomwe show this coming Friday at the same venue. The show has been organised by musician John Fire. She is also set to have a good bye party on July 4.
“I will miss Malawi but I will definitely come back. It has been exciting time working with different artists and I intend to sell Malawian music in UK,” Annemarie said.
Code Sangala, who is also co-founder, said Music against Malaria will continue doing its best using music to fight malaria as well as raise funds for hospitals. On the Music against Malaria Festival which did not take place last year due to Covid, Code said they will announce shortly the new plan.
