Africa-Press – Malawi. Renowned rapper Tay Grin of the ‘Chipapapa’ and ‘Tola’ fame has been listed among 100 most influential young Africans by public relations and rating firm Avance Media.

This comes after the firm has announced the seventh edition of its prestigious annual publication for the 2022 most influential young Africans. The publication recognises and celebrates young people who are making a positive impact in their communities and industries across the continent.

The 100 most influential young Africans feature young people from 25 different countries with Nigeria dominating with 31 representatives including musicians Burna Boy, Kizz Daniel, Wizkid and Grammy award winner Tems followed by Kenya with 11, Ghana with 10, five for South Africa and seven for Tanzania.

The list also showcases the diversity and strength of young people, with 43 females and 57 males. The other names on the list include Senegalese star Sadio Mane

A statement by Prince Akpah, the founder and Managing Director of Avance Media, indicates that they are proud to announce the seventh edition of the 100 most influential young Africans, which celebrates the achievements and contributions of young people across the continent.

“This publication is a testament to the remarkable resilience and potential of Africa’s young people and a celebration of their determination to make a positive impact in their communities,” Akpah said.

He went on to say that the list will inspire more young people to take on leadership roles and make a positive impact in their communities. “It also serves as a platform for recognition, networking and collaboration, allowing young people to drive change and make a lasting impact on the continent,” Akpah said. Tay described the development yesterday as a great responsibility and honour.

“My music promotes, celebrates and preserves our Malawian culture and to be recognised at this level is truly monumental and a great example to the young people of Malawi to emulate. This has given me more energy and drive to continue and keep raising our flag high for the world to see that Malawi has a lot to offer,” he said.

“This is a huge win not only for me but the entire nation and its citizenry. I am humbled and what a way to start the year,” he added. The artist has also said he is delighted that a video of his song ‘Foto’ exclusively premiered on MTV Base.

“It is currently playing on MTV Mega hits. It has been well received and will this week start its rounds on Channel O and Trace Africa. The song features Phantom Steeze and will be available for download on YouTube this week,” Tay Grin said.

Meanwhile the musician has joined several Malawians in the country in mourning South African rapper AKA, who was shot dead on Friday. Tay Grin, through his Black Rhyno Entertainment, brought AKA to the country.

The rapper last year also starred in the country courtesy of Nyasa Music Group, where his sneakers were stolen during his performance. “Your talent was top tier. You have left a mark and your legacy shall live strong. Rest in power Super Mega, My friend,” he wrote on his social media page.
