Mauritius and India Expand Education and Cultural Ties

Africa-Press – Mauritius. Fostering closer collaboration in education, culture, and language promotion between Mauritius and India was at the forefront of discussions, today, during a courtesy call paid by the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, Mrs Aparna Ganesan, on the Minister of Education and Human Resource, Dr Mahend Gungapersad, in Phoenix.

In a statement following the meeting Minister Gungapersad congratulated Mrs Ganesan on her nomination as Deputy High Commissioner and expressed confidence in further collaboration under her leadership and that of the High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Mauritius. He pointed out the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Indian High Commission to promote language, culture, and other areas that will consolidate the excellent relationship between Mauritius and India.

For her part Mrs Ganesan highlighted the strong cooperation already in place, from partnerships with schools to collaboration with larger institutions such as the World Hindi Secretariat, and expressed eagerness to continue and expand these initiatives.

Discussions also focused on joint efforts to promote languages and cultural exchange. She welcomed proposals from the Ministry on ways to further enhance collaboration and reaffirmed the commi
