Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare and the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) have formalised their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed yesterday afternoon at the seat of the Ministry in Port Louis.
The MoU aims to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry and the national broadcaster, improving the visibility, reach and effectiveness of the Ministry’s sensitisation and awareness campaigns. It also seeks to ensure more structured and consistent communication on issues such as gender equality, family welfare and social empowerment across various media platforms.
The MoU was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Mr Jean Daniel Philippe Labonne, and the Director General of the MBC, Mr Alain Gordon-Gentil.
By virtue of the agreement, the MBC will provide a range of broadcasting and production services to support the Ministry’s communication initiatives. These include the yearly airing of up to 12 TV programmes of 26 minutes each, as well as 24 radio programmes of 40 minutes each. Moreover, the MBC will also conduct six live radio animations per year, with each session lasting between two and five hours per channel.
Provision will be made to produce and air 52 TV programmes annually, each not exceeding three minutes and will develop and broadcast television spots, radio spots and communiques in accordance to a mutually agreed media plan. To further extend its outreach, the MBC will post campaign materials related to the Ministry on its official website, Facebook page and other digital platforms.
The MoU takes effect from the date of signature and will remain in force until 30 November 2026. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the Ministry’s communication efforts and further support national initiatives promoting gender equality and family welfare across the country.
