Africa-Press – Mauritius. The upgraded GoAML platform, a technological system used to tackle money laundering and the financing of terrorism, was launched this morning at VoilĂ Bagatelle. Organised by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the launch ceremony was followed by a training session for supervisors and reporting persons to better familiarise them with the upgraded features and enhanced functionalities of the new version.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Financial Services and Economic Planning, Mr Dhanraj Conhye; the representative of the Mauritius Bankers Association, Mr Robin Cundasamy; representatives from regulatory bodies, financial institutions and law enforcement agencies; as well as other personalities were present.
Developed by the UNODC, the GoAML platform buttresses Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combatting the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) efforts by providing a secure, standardised system for reporting, analysing and disseminating financial intelligence. Mauritius adopted GoAML in 2014, marking a shift from paper-based reporting to a modernised AML/CFT ecosystem.
FIU is now migrating to GoAML Version 5.5, which introduces several enhancements, including faster submission of Suspicious Transaction Reports through XML, improved user experience, stronger analytical tools, integration with Government databases and simplified reporting options for Designated Non-Financial Business and Professions.
The upgraded platform also enables easier submission of bank statements, improved statistical management for national risk assessments and the filing of bulk cash transaction reports and electronic funds transfers. Strategically, the upgrade ensures alignment with evolving Financial Action Task Force standards and reinforces Mauritius’ commitment to maintaining a robust, modern and credible AML/CFT framework.
