Africa-Press – Mauritius. The historic victory of the Mauritian team Codewares Reloaded, winners of the International Final of the 24h By Webcup 2025, held in Maputo, Mozambique from 11 to 15 December 2025, was celebrated, yesterday, during a ceremony organised in Ebène.
The winning team comprising four young Mauritians Pravesh Gowreea, Ashfaaq Jowaheer, Rabill Madarboccus, and Kavish Mojhoa, was rewarded with cash prizes, trophies and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performance.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation in collaboration with the Federation of Innovative and Numeric Activities in Mauritius (FINAM). The Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul, the Chairperson of FINAM, Mrs Jenny Chan, and other personalities were present.
The 24h By Webcup is a round the clock non-stop website development competition organised simultaneously across six Indian Ocean territories. In Mauritius, the competition was first held in 2013, and to date over 760 participants have taken part.
In his address, Minister Ramtohul congratulated the team on their international victory and highlighted the country’s growing pool of digital talent. He reiterated Government’s commitment to supporting youth through initiatives aimed at developing innovation, digital skills and emerging technologies. He also emphasised the importance of a fully integrated innovation system to keep pace with rapid technological developments, including plans to introduce virtual laboratories in schools at upper primary level to promote early awareness and understanding of artificial intelligence.
The Minister further underlined the value of teamwork and skills acquired through such competitions, noting that these experiences enhance participants’ interpersonal competencies and future professional prospects.
For her part, Mrs Chan highlighted that this is the first time Mauritius has secured the international title, reflecting the excellence, creativity and technical expertise of young Mauritian digital talents. She commended the Ministry, FINAM and all partners for their continued support in strengthening the national digital ecosystem and expressed confidence in Mauritius’ participation and success in future editions of the competition, including the 2026 edition scheduled for June.
