Africa-Press – Mauritius. A workshop focusing on good governance to sustain high performance was organised yesterday by the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage at the Municipality of Port-Louis, for 31 parastatal bodies operating under the aegis the Ministry.
Present on the occasion, the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr. Avinash Teeluck, recalled that even if each parastatal institution has a unique structure, accountability is a key component and is a necessity. Moreover, he suggested that the Ministry should come up with a fast-track mechanism which will play an active role to ensure and guarantee that decisions are implemented more effectively.
The Minister also appealed to the heads of each parastatal body to inculcate a sound and healthy working environment to enhance the performance and well-being of all workers.
The purpose of the workshop was to provide all heads of parastatal bodies the opportunity to express their views pertaining to good governance so as to ensure that funds are spent judiciously and to sustain high performance in the public sector.
Heads and representatives of the 31 parastatal bodies present, expressed their satisfaction with regards to the organisation of this workshop, which is also served as a networking opportunity and synergy.
