Africa-Press – Mauritius. PORT LOUIS (Mauritius) Aug, 28: India Festival entitled ‘Mairti Parv’ organised by Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture, High Commission of India, Mauritius came out to be a big success.

Devised and designed by the eminent theatre director of India, Blawant Thakur who is also the Director of Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian culture which is world’s biggest centre, this festival created a history by featuring nine iconic events in seven days.

Organised to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, this India weeklong festival featured certain out of the world presentations which Mauritius witnessed for the first time.

The festival was opened with the dances and performing arts traditions of Manipur for which the professional repertory of Jawahar Lal Nehru Manipuri Dance Academy came all way from Manipur to mesmerize the audience with their energising spellbound performances.

Balwant Thakur devised yet another unique event entitled ‘Art Conclave-2022’ which featured 75 exclusive art works of Mauritian artists expressing their vision of India through their varied forms of artistic expressions.

Never ever before 75 new works have been showcased under one roof with one theme ‘My Vision of India’. This amazing work is receiving all round appreciation.

The other highlights of the India festival included Indian Food Festival which witnessed over 20,000 food lovers to the event relishing mouth watering Indian dishes.

Legendary singers Ahamed Hussain and Mohammad Hussain through their soulful singing took the festival to the ultimate heights and received standing ovations for their divine singing.

Amongst others the presentation ‘Colors of India’ presented by the faculty and the students of Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture took the audience to a trip of different Indian regions and showcased the diverse range of Indian culture which is known for its unique features.

This festival of India in Mauritius showcased under the direction of one of the most celebrated director/designer of India Balwant Thakur will live in the memories of Mauritius for centuries to come.

The India festival in Mauritius witnessed the presence of the President and the Prime Minister of Mauritius amongst a majority of ministers and the members of the diplomatic core.
