Africa-Press – Mauritius. THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) will hold the draw for the quarter-finals CAF Champions League today, bringing the group stage to a close and setting the stage for the knockout rounds. Eight clubs have secured their places in the last eight following the conclusion of the group phase on Sunday.

Egyptian side Pyramids FC finished Group A in commanding fashion, topping the table with 16 points from six matches after five wins and a draw, scoring 14 goals and conceding just two.

Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane secured the second qualification spot from the group with ten points, narrowly edging out Zambia’s Power Dynamos, while Nigeria’s Rivers United finished bottom.

Group B was topped by Egypt’s Al Ahly, who remained unbeaten with 10 points from two wins and four draws. Morocco’s FAR Rabat — popularly known as the Royal Army — secured second place with nine points, narrowly ahead of Young Africans SC.

In Group C, Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman finished top with 11 points following a decisive finalround victory. South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns booked their quarter-final berth with nine points, edging Algeria’s MC Alger. Group D produced another tightly contested race, with Mali’s Stade Malien making history by topping the group with 11 points while conceding only two goals.

Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive de Tunis secured the remaining quarter-final slot with nine points, leaving Angola’s Petro Atlético and Tanzania’s Simba SC eliminated.

The quarter-final draw will determine the matchups for the two-legged ties, as Africa’s elite clubs take the next step in the race for continental glory.
