Africa-Press – Mauritius. Comoros’ Minister of Francophonie and International Partnerships, Thani Mohamed Soilihi, is on an official visit to Mauritius today, April 25th. His day began with a focus on ocean preservation, including a visit to the Plastic Odyssey ship docked at Caudan Waterfront.
The minister then proceeded to the Intercontinental Slavery Museum for the inauguration of the Froberville busts room. Following this, he participated in a roundtable discussion centered on preserving Mauritius’ rich architectural heritage.
This afternoon’s agenda includes co-chairing the second Réunion-Mauritius joint commission at the Government House. The discussions will likely cover areas of bilateral cooperation between the two islands.
The visit comes after the cancellation of French President Emmanuel Macron’s planned trip to Mauritius due to the funeral of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. Mr. Soilihi’s visit is expected to maintain momentum on existing collaborative projects.
Mr. Soilihi’s visit underscores the strengthening of ties between the Comoros and Mauritius, particularly in areas of environmental protection and cultural preservation. His participation in various events highlights the shared concerns and collaborations between the two island nations.
