Africa-Press – Mauritius. The High Commissioner of the Republic of Tanzania to Mauritius, Professor Emmanuel Mbennah, accompanied by the Head of Chancery, Mrs Gwantwa Mwaisaka, and the Consul of the Republic of Tanzania to Mauritius, Mr Marday Venketasamy, paid a farewell call, today, on the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun at the State House, RĂ©duit.
In a statement, Professor Mbennah said that his short tenure of nine months was very fruitful and expressed appreciation as regards the friendly ties and reinforced cooperation between Mauritius and Tanzania. The work achieved since the last nine months have laid the foundation for new level of cooperation, he pointed out.
Professor Mbennah recalled the signing of a general framework agreement this year and an agreement between the Economic Development Board and the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority for business development and investments.
He spoke of tapping on cultural exchanges through scholarships for Tanzanian students to come to Mauritius and vice-versa which according to him will further strengthen bilateral ties.
He also evoked other areas of possible collaboration namely in the jewellery, leather and sugar sector. Moreover, Professor Mbennah reiterated the commitment of the Government of Tanzania to contributing towards the implementation of common projects.
