Africa-Press – Mauritius. Dave Kissondoyal has expressed his gratitude to former Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth for visiting him and showing concern for his well-being during his hunger strike. Jugnauth urged Kissondoyal to end the strike due to health risks and the current government’s apparent indifference.

Kissondoyal acknowledged Jugnauth’s message but stated that his decision to continue the hunger strike remains unchanged. He emphasized that his fight is not personal but driven by a collective conscience and a refusal to see the elderly, workers, and vulnerable citizens sacrificed for reforms.

The hunger strike is a protest against the perceived injustice of reforms that do not start at the top of the social pyramid. Kissondoyal is committed to continuing the strike as long as this injustice persists.

Pravind Jugnauth, leader of the MSM party, praised Dave Kissoondoyal’s courage in standing against the government’s decision to deprive citizens aged 60 to 65 of their basic pensions.

The MSM leader called on the hunger striker to consider ending his action, as the government is ignoring the pleas of Mauritians. The MSM reiterated its stance that touching basic pensions is unacceptable and pledged to continue advocating for the reversal of this decision and for the voice of the population to be heard.
