Africa-Press – Mauritius. Lawyer and Member of Parliament Khushal Lobine clarified the reasons behind his decision to provide the legal defense for Malagasy businessman Mamy Ravatomanga.
In a statement published on his Facebook page, he said he is acting in accordance with the “Cab Rank Rule,” an ethical principle recognized in common law jurisdictions, including Mauritius. Khushal Lobine emphasized that defending a client does not mean endorsing their actions but guarantees the right to a fair trial.
He also stressed the strict separation between his parliamentary duties and his role as a lawyer, affirming that he acts with full respect for legal ethics and the independence of the judiciary.
