Mauritius and Israel to explore avenues of cooperation in the agriculture sector

Africa-Press – Mauritius. Digital agriculture, protected or sheltered agriculture, use of water for agriculture, drip irrigation, fertigation, off-season fruits production and processing techniques, are some of the sectors in which Mauritius and Israel are considering for avenues of cooperation.
The potential to collaborate in these areas were discussed, today in Port-Louis, when the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Mauritius, Mr Eliav Belotsercovsky paid a courtesy call on the Attorney General, Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Mr Maneesh Gobin, in his Office at Renganaden Seeneevassen Building.

In a statement, the Israeli Ambassador shared that Mauritius and Israel have the potential to explore avenues of cooperation in many areas and indicated that, at present, there is an expert from Mauritius in Israel on a study trip in cattle-breeding.

Discussions with the Minister also focused on providing training programmes as well as organising visits of experts and holding zoom conferences in the agriculture sector, he highlighted.
During the past two years, said Mr Belotsercovsky, 47 experts from Mauritius have been trained by Israel on short programmes and we would like to increase the number of Mauritian experts trained in Israel. There is a lot of work to be achieved and we are going to accomplish it, he affirmed.
