Africa-Press – Mauritius. Mrs Phoolmuth Yetty, born on 1st February 1923, celebrated her 100th birthday, last Wednesday, at the Palma Marathi Hall, in Quatre Bornes. The Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, as well as family members and friends were present to celebrate the centennial birthday.
To mark the occasion, the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity offered to Mrs Phoolmuth Yetty a cheque of Rs 26,203; an electronic appliance; a bouquet of flower; the centenarian medal; and a certificate for her service.
The National Solidarity Fund of the Ministry gave her a cheque of Rs 10,000. Gifts were also presented to her by the Senior Citizen Council. Mrs Phoolmuth Yetty was born in Curepipe.
She has never worked. She had four children, three sons and one daughter. She has 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She loves eating fish, meat and chicken along with vegetables.
She is very lucid and moves around with a walking frame and have hearing problem. Mrs Yetty does her daily prayers and have faith in God which she connects to her longevity.
