Africa-Press – Mauritius. The humanitarian cooperation between Mauritius and the Order of Malta was at the fore of discussions, yesterday in Port Louis, during a courtesy call by the President of the Order of Malta France, Mr Cédric Chalret du Rieu, on the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin.
In a statement, Mr Chalret du Rieu highlighted that the meeting with Minister Gobin was cordial and was an opportunity to discuss several areas of cooperation between Mauritius and the Order of Malta, namely partnership concerning autism management in Mauritius and the deepening of the collaboration in the field of healthcare.
He further observed that the possibility of enhancing the training offered by the Order of Malta to Mauritian first responders was also on the agenda. It is recalled that the diplomatic relations between Mauritius and the Order of Malta were initially established in 1977.
The Order of Malta, known for its extensive humanitarian work across the globe, has been a partner to Mauritius across many areas of cooperation, including the donation of essential medical supplies, the provision of ambulances, contributions to the Cyclone Relief Fund, assistance to the oncology department, and support to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
